Your Service Dog
Journey Starts Here
Our training programs are designed to build confidence, independence, and strong bonds between handlers and their service dogs.
Not sure which program is right for you?
All of our options are detailed below.
In Home Service Dog Program
In this program the dog is sourced and temperament tested to best meet the client's needs. The dog is housed for about a year where they are exposed to a wide variety of extenuating circumstances to proof them as a versatile, high-quality service dog for their future handler. After the year long program, Alert-K9 manages the transition as the dog is transferred to their matched handler. We offer lifetime support for the duration of the dog's working career.

Handler-Focused Service Dog Program
In this program, we work as a team to train your future service dog. This program caters to the needs of each individual. Before we begin, an interview will be set up to gather all necessary information in order to design the most effective and efficient custom program for you and your dog.
Therapy Dog Program
A therapy dog is a trained animal that provides comfort and support to individuals in various settings, such as hospitals, schools, and nursing homes. These dogs help reduce stress and anxiety while promoting emotional well-being.
Unlike service dogs, therapy dogs are not trained to perform specific tasks for individuals with disabilities; instead, they offer companionship and affection to anyone in need. Their presence can create a calming environment and enhance the overall quality of life for those they visit.
Our Therapy Dog services range from temperament-testing your personal dog, sourcing a new dog for this purpose, or providing training to get the dog tested for the Canine Good Citizens test (CGC) test.

Volhard Temperament Testing & Evaluations
Volhard temperament testing is a structured assessment used to evaluate the suitability of a dog for service work. This test measures various traits such as confidence, sociability, and adaptability, ensuring that the dog can handle the demands of a service role.
The process typically involves a series of exercises that gauge the dog's reactions to different stimuli and situations. By identifying a dog's strengths and weaknesses, trainers can determine if they possess the right temperament to assist individuals with disabilities.
